Preludes - Claude Debussy orch. Colin Matthews Over the last seven years, Colin Matthews has created extraordinary orchestrations of all 24 of Debussy’s exquisite Préludes, originally composed for piano. Commissioned by the Hallé Concerts Society, each prelude was premiered by The Hallé Orchestra. They have all been met with great acclaim and have received further performances in London, Berlin, Vienna and across the world, under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev, Kristjan Järvi and Mark Elder CBE. As well as receiving numerous concert performances, many of the preludes have been recorded and released on two CDs, one recorded by the Hallé conducted by Mark Elder and the other on EMI Classics by the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.
