Getting published - our submission policy for print publications

As a rule, Faber Music does not accept unsolicited submissions. However, in exceptional cases, the manuscript may be considered if the following criteria are met:

  • A complete manuscript of the music or, for text-based manuscripts, an outline proposal and sample chapter
  • An audio recording of the work where appropriate
  • A reference or endorsement from a professional with appropriate musical and/or educational qualifications (for example, county music advisor)
  • Your C.V.

In a covering letter, you should show an awareness of Faber Music’s existing catalogue and how your submission would fit within it.

If you do not hear from us within six weeks, you must assume that your submission has been unsuccessful. If you wish your manuscript to be returned please provide a stamped addressed envelope.

A list of music publishers, with contact details, is available in the British Music Year Book.

Performance Works - submission policy

Faber Music will accept unsolicited submissions for performance/concert works. These should be submitted by post to the London address and not by email. (All email submissions will be deleted.) The postal address can be found in the Contact Us section.

The following criteria should be included with each postal submission:

  • A performance history, demonstrating that the composer’s music has been performed regularly by professional performers. Please keep this brief
  • Biographical details/CV, key composition teachers and list of compositions
  • CD/DVD recordings, where possible, are preferred. Cassettes/videos are acceptable. Please do not send scores in the first instance. We will request these at a later date if necessary.
  • Any key reviews

Please allow us plenty of time to consider your submission. If you do not hear from us within twelve weeks, you must assume that your submission has been unsuccessful. For UK submissions, please include an SAE if you would like your work returned. We cannot undertake to return materials from overseas. In any case, please always keep a copy of your work.
